Comments

When submitting a comment, in addition to the information provided in the comment form, the commenter’s IP address and browser identifier string are collected in order to filter out spam.

An anonymized string (commonly called a hash) generated from the email address is transmitted to the Gravatar service, if this is used on the site. The terms of the Gravatar service can be viewed at the following address: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After the comment is accepted, the content of our comment and our profile picture will also be publicly displayed.

Media

If a registered user uploads an image to the website, EXIFs that include GPS position data should be avoided. Website visitors can download these and extract location data from images on the website.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on the website, we store your name, email address and website address in cookies. This is for convenience purposes, so you don’t have to fill in these fields the next time you post a comment. Cookies expire after one year.

When you visit the login page, we set temporary cookies to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. These cookies do not contain any personal information and are deleted when you close your browser.

When you log in to the website, we create several cookies that save your login information and your editing options. The login cookies are valid for two days, and the cookie that stores the editing options for one year. If you check the “Remember me” option, you will be logged in for two weeks. When you log out, the login cookies are removed.

When you edit a post or page, another cookie is stored by your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data, it simply stores the ID number of the post that we edited. It expires in one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts available on the website may use embedded content from external sources (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from external sources behaves exactly as if we had visited another website.

These websites may collect data about visitors, use cookies or third-party tracking code, monitor user behavior in relation to the embedded content if we have a user account and are logged in to the site.

How long we keep your personal data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata will remain in the system for an indefinite period of time. The purpose of this is to ensure that all subsequent comments are reviewed and approved by us, i.e. they are not included in the list of comments to be moderated.

The personal data of users registered on the website (if any) are also stored in their own user profile. Each user can view, edit or delete their personal data at any time (except that they cannot change their own username). The website administrators can also view and edit this information.

What rights does the user have regarding their own data

When registering an account or writing a comment on the website, you can request to send your personal data in an export file, which contains any data that the user has previously provided to us. You can also request that we delete any personal data that you have previously provided. This does not apply to data that we are required to retain for administrative, legal or security reasons.
